The State of California has very strict child labor laws. Any time a child is employed, the producers must hire a Studio Teacher, who is responsible for the safety and education of the child. That means that I am on set the entire time the child is working, making sure he/she is safe and not being asked to do anything inappropriate and I am also responsible for teaching them for 3 hours a day. I have also worked as an on-set acting coach, but that is a completely different job.
There is a lot of voiceover work for kids in LA. Since I also work as a set teacher, I am often teaching kids who are in the recording studio for animated films, foreign film translations, video games, and animated DVD's. A lot of the same kids seem to work, but it's like that in most areas of the business.
Yes, I know David. I'm helping him promote his warmup exercises on my websites. I hope he's made some sales. Sounds like there is a lot of fun stuff for your kids to do in Orlando. I'm assuming the production of Millie is all kids? I saw the show on Broadway and enjoy singing the music.
